Man! A lot has happened!

Where to start is the question????? So much has happened since the last time I have sat down to blog. First of all, Judy is OK after her "fall from grace". She is sore and bruised and needs the chiropractor but, is healing well. The first week was really rough on her with splitting headaches but she is back in the swing of things. Brad, our Upward league director, has banished all the family to the first steps of the bleachers. However, we almost got hit in the head with the basketball twice on Saturday after the kids shot air balls. So, they have decided we might need a plexi glass wall around us! LOL!
Second, the weight loss train is off to a great start. I started Weight Watchers two weeks ago and have lost a total of 9.2 lbs. so far. I am very excited but do realize that this will level off soon. I always loose a bunch right at first but then it goes slower for the rest of the time. The first week I wanted to eat my key board and lick the wall paper but the second week was easier. Right now, I'm starving but am holding off until the stew that is on the stove is finished. I can have LOTS of it!!!!! Yum! Come and join me on Monday nights if you want. You too can loose 9.2 pounds!!!!! Gotta count the .2!
Third, our house! OK it all goes back to the Monday we had MLK day off work. Brian was off, the kids were off, and Mom was off too! What happens when the family is bored....we drive around the country. We found a small house right up the road from Wayne and Judy that was on the market as a foreclosed home. We find that is very cheap and we could get it without having to have a house payment. We look at it with a realator from our church and figure it would be a tight squeeze but it would work and it would get us in the smaller school we want. (The freshman campus that Caleb will go to in a 1 1/2 years makes me cringe) Sooooo off we go to the bank...get the loan....have the realator evaluate our house....start working on our house to get it ready to sell....and contact the powers that be on making a bid on the country home. Long story short......the house sold to someone else. The story goes something like this....the man place a bid on the house. It was below the asking price and was rejected. However, then they dropped the price of the house and went back and honored his previous bid. So, we are not moving yet but have decided to keep an eye out for a place in the country. In the meantime, we are putting siding on our house, painting it, replacing the top of the porch, fixing the mini blinds, painting the bathroom and putting down a new floor in it and numerous other "little" things around here. Boy when you live in a house for 19 years it's amazing how many "little" projects to accumulate! So all of you guys out in the country keep an eye out for a place for us! I know if God wants us out there he will open a door for us and we will find our spot. We will keep seeking what he wants for us and praying about it.
Lastly, we are doing great! The boys are doing fine except for a little coughing. We are busy working on the house and they are having fun helping with the demo work! Basketball is going great and they really have improved so much. Aaron has stopped being "nervous" and has shot several times at the basket. He has only scored once in the WRONG basket though. Bless his heart. He is having a great time though and is really learning a bunch. Jared is doing great and scores about 6 to 8 points a game. Caleb is scoring this year too and has FINALLY learned to get a rebound and put it back up to score. He is having fun and is really becoming a leader on his team. He is too funny to watch!
Well, the soup is almost ready so I will get you guys get back to life. Come over and help me paint closets if you get bored!!!!!

Love to all,
JJ

Hi Ho, Hi Ho it's back and forth I go!

Ok the title of the blog can speak to so many different areas of my life right now. I sometimes wonder if I'm on a farris wheel going around and around and wonder if it's ever going to stop and let me get off! Back and forth can refer to the traveling we are doing going to basketball practice. The gas in my van seems to keep running out lately because of so many trips across town. I'm just glad that the prices have dropped. The boys played there first games on Saturday. We showed up at the gym at 9:30 and left at 3:30! I'm glad they have a full concession stand! Aaron did pretty well in his first game. At the beginning of the game, his team mate passed him the ball and he just stood there. Everyone was yelling dribble Aaron but, he was froze. I think it was a full 30 seconds that he stood and held the ball and didn't move. Finally, he passed the ball and moved. I asked him after the game what happend and he replied, "I got kinda nervous!" It was so funny. After, the initial shock wore off he did very well and did end up dribbling the ball and shooting a couple of times. On defense he is great and follows his "guy/girl" wonderfully. However he gets kind of lost on offense and just runs around. Jared did great as always but his asthma got the better of him. He coughed and coughed and finally used his inhaler and did OK after that. He scored 6 points I think. Caleb did a great job also. He scored 6 points getting rebounds and putting the ball back in. He was really sucking wind by the end of the game. You can tell they were all playing their first game. However, to his defense they had him guarding the point guard. Why in the world would you put a 135 lbs. 12 year old on a little, fast, tiny girl who can blow right by him????? We are lucky that she wasn't very good at shooting. He did great though considering all that happened right before his game.
Which brings me to my next tale. My mother and father in law Judy and Wayne were at the games too. They sat through Aaron and Jared's game and were getting ready to watch Caleb play. We had been crawling up and down the rickety bleachers at the old Lincoln Gym all day long and had commented several times about how we were going to bust our rear ends if we didn't watch it. Right before Caleb took the court, Judy stepped up onto the bleachers from the gym floor. Her left foot made it but her right foot drug on the seat and tripped her up. I watched from the top of the bleachers as she struggled in mid air and then fell about 3 feet onto the gym floor hitting the back of her head so hard that it bounced up and slammed back down. It was the worst feeling of my LIFE!!!!!! I practically threw Brian down the bleachers as I screamed "your Mom fell". She had her arms full of drinks and food and did not have any way to catch herself at all. (Which was a blessing really because she would have broken wrists/arms if she had put them back) She laid there for a second and we all quickly decided that she needed an ambulance and to go to the hospital. After and MRI and Cat scan she was given the all clear to go home. However, she is far from being better. She is in a lot of pain and we are lifting her in prayer for healing. She is going to follow up with her doctor tomorrow and maybe she can give her something to ease the pain. So far nothing she has taken as helped. Please keep her in your prayers. Needless, to say the boys fell apart seeing Me-Maw loaded up in the ambulance. We decided to have them stay and watch Caleb play to help take their mind off it and after about 30 minutes of wailing I bribed them with M&M's to stop. It worked and they were able to go to the hospital and visit her without falling apart again.
Back and forth can also refer to my new commitment back to Weight Watchers. I am so back and forth on my weight that I HAVE to do something so it's back to WW I go! Hi Ho, Hi stinking HO! However, I am committed and will see it through. I have to! I have children's camp, lock in's, youth group trips, and too many other things to not get serious about it. For those of you who have never seen me thin, I lost about 50 lbs on WW's 5 years ago and kept it off for 2 years before I let LIFE get in the way. Mainly, I have decided it's not how much I put in my mouth but it's what type of food I put in my mouth. I don't really snack too much around the house it's just we eat JUNK!!!!! I get in the pizza, burgers, and chicken fast food cycle and don't cook good stuff. I have to stop! Anyway, I want to kick myself because Amy and I started WW last year together. She dropped 30 pounds and I lost 15 and then I stopped going! No fair! I would have already been finished if I had kept it up! So if you want to be my buddy come on and come with us. We are going on Monday nights at 6:00. Remember....my buddies always loose lots of weight!!!!!! It's really an easy way to do it and it's only $12 a week. That's a bargin for health and feeling better. I have also taken all my Christmas money and bought a treadmill so I can start walking. It's fun! I really like the fact I can throw my shoes on at 8:20 at night and walk a mile! It's so nice to get to choose when I will walk instead of having to schedule walking while it's still light outside. I love it! OK there you are....my back and forth life. I had better stop because I know you are tired of reading.....keep Judy in your prayers. I pray for the hurting to stop!

Love to all,
JJ

Help! Christmas is over!

Ok I need help. I have recently been messing around with different backgrounds of my blog. I love to change them and make them cute. However, if you notice I have a Merry Christmas banner still attached to the top and I CAN'T get it to go away! I have changed the background. I have messed with the header. I have changed and punched every button I can find but, I still have a MERRY CHRISTMAS sign! It's like the Christmas decorations you find in February that you missed taking down and putting away. Have you ever done that? I do it all the time. I will usually find some odd decoration that didn't find it's way to the boxes when everything else was packed away. Anyway, HELP! Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of it? If not then you are going to have to stare at it until December!

We are back into full swing school, homework, and going 100 miles an hour. Caleb has a upper chest infection. He stayed home today from school, coughing his head off. He is on antibotics and cough pills so hopefully it will go away. I know he is tired of coughing and we are tired of hearing him cough up a lung. I started school with a tummy bug! Yippee! At least, I might have dropped a few pounds! I feel better today though. Aaron is now getting to memorize subtraction facts. He is so happy about it. Really! The kid is a freak! No, not really. His teacher sent home some new instructions for his homework for the new year and he read them word for word. Now....he is making US do them word for word! He won't take shortcuts. He won't budge on doing everything according to the letter of the law. (At this point, I'm really considering DNA testing to see if Caleb and him are really brothers. Caleb shortcuts everything!) Anyway, it's all good and what not but come on, he's the third child. It's the 3rd time I've helped with 1st grade homework! I'm ready to cut corners and goof off! Oh well!

Well, I had better get the monsters on their homework. Tonight is basketball practice. I think we start the season soon. Maybe even this weekend????!!!! I guess I had better go check it out.

Love to all,
JJ
